Old Fashioned Hot Water Cornbread

  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Blend hot boiling water well with cornmeal, flour, salt and cooking oil. Use a tablespoon to roll or make patties in hands. Heat 1/4 cup of cooking oil in a small or medium size skillet.
Serves 8 or 10.

This recipe was given to my by my mother. It is very good!
